Testate amoeba, part 3 of 4

Group: Testate amoebae · Arcella, Difflugia, Centropyxis and relatives

What you see

Testate amoebae carry a shell; look for the opening from which the pseudopods come out.

Recorded on 20 July 2018. This loop is the 4:37–5:02 part of a 7:43 recording; the full recording is on Commons.

Points to check against your own sample:

  • Difflugia: flask or vase shaped, covered in tiny mineral grains.
  • A rigid shell with one opening; lobes of cytoplasm come out of it and pull the shell along.
