Filming through the eyepiece
A phone held to the eyepiece can record surprisingly good video.
A dedicated microscope camera gives the best results, but a phone is a good start.
- Focus the microscope first, then bring the phone camera lens close to the eyepiece until the circle of light fills the screen.
- A simple clamp or adapter keeps the phone steady and lined up.
- Lock focus and exposure on the phone if it allows, and record at the frame rate you will play back.
- Record more than you need. A good few seconds come out of minutes of waiting.
