Feeding rotifer
Group: Rotifers · Rotifera (wheel animals)
What you see
The clip shows feeding. Watch where food goes in, and look for food vacuoles forming and moving inside the body.
Recorded on 18 April 2010. This loop is the whole 0:16 recording.
Points to check against your own sample:
- A muscular jaw apparatus (mastax) chewing inside, visible as a pulsing structure.
- A foot with toes at the rear; bdelloids creep like leeches, other kinds swim or live attached in a tube.
